Hello all,
Following a recent committee meeting, I am writing to advise that next season the post of the grounds man officer(s) will become vacant, as both Tat and Steve would like to take a break from the role in which they have excelled over the past four years.
They have both done a quite superb job, providing excellent playing surfaces for us to compete at the highest level in the S.N.C.L. They will continue to prepare and care for the wicket throughout the remainder of the 2009 season. Not least of all, they have saved the club a lot of money as two dedicated club members who have given their time for free. I am sure that you will all take an opportunity to thank them individually for their tireless work, and commitment over the past four years, but it is now time for someone else to have a go.
So we have some time to find a couple of willing volunteers within the club to step forward to replace them. As there is some training involved to become knowledgeable in the preparation of a cricket wicket, it would make sense for the incoming ground staff to receive some "on the job" training from our current experts during this season.
Are any of you interested or know someone who may be interested in this role? This is your club, and we need your input and suggestions for this please. We cannot wait until the the start of next season to appoint their replacements.
I would appreciate hearing from you with your views and suggestions to progress this.
With thanks,
Scotty
