Latest News:

The 2011 season has come to an end for the Junior Section of Evenley Cricket Club, which continues to go from strength to strength. This season we have coached in the region of 50 children, who have taken part in indoor winter nets, Under 13 matches, Kwik Cricket tournaments and Sunday morning coaching. I have been particularly grateful to Graham Chaston and Miles Brooke, who have joined the coaching team and enabled us to run a specific Junior/Beginners session on Sunday mornings, some of whom will be moving up to the Kwik Cricket squad next season. Rachel Gallyot, Kate Darby and Ange Crompton have continued to coach our Kwik Cricketers, who were unbeaten in their first tournament, organised by the South Northants Junior Cricket League, but then unfortunately had two tournaments rained off, including one which we were due to host on the Village Green.

Our Under 13 squad, under the dedicated guidance of Tat Greatbatch and Julian Walker, has had a mixed season in the South Northants Junior Cricket League, ending up with five wins and eight defeats. We have been encouraged by the boys’ enthusiasm and hard work – which have been commented on by other team’s coaches - they have competed hard in every game and many could have gone either way. I would also like to thank Andy Reader and Sam Holden for their help early in the season in the winter nets.

One exciting addition this season has been a group of teenagers helping with our coaching sessions as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Awards – extra hands are always welcome and they have developed a great rapport with the younger children, so well done Tom, Henry, Charlie and Tom.

We will start indoor winter nets again next February for the Under 13 squad (details to follow in due course), followed by coaching on the Village Green from the first Sunday in May (10.30am-12noon). We take any children between school year 2 and school year 8 (i.e. Under 13) and please feel free to contact me for further information.
